“God is always on the alert, constantly on the lookout for people who are totally committed to him… ” 2 Chronicle 16:9 (The Message Bible)
I have the privilege of praying weekly with a group of Godly men in ministry. http://www.vision360canada.com
One of their prayers is for the Lord to send them people to be part of the ministry in various roles. (I am praying for intercessors.)
As we prayed, the above verse spoke to my heart. It is reassuring as we ask for others to come alongside us in ministry to know that God hears our prayers and is also looking for them to fulfill His call on their lives.
This also got me thinking about wonderful, loving Christians I have met over the years, some who are incredibly gifted and called by the Lord and others with untapped potential just waiting to be nurtured and released. Many of them have not moved ahead and some have even fallen away from God’s plan for them. It is heartbreaking.
I found myself asking why? Why do some continue to grow and move into their God-given destiny while others do not? I believe it comes down to one word: “Commitment”. It is our commitment to the Lord that puts us in a position where He can perform a great work in us which will lead to the fulfillment of our life purpose.
The above verse says God is “constantly on the lookout for people who are totally committed to him.” Totally committed, not just partway, not just Sundays or when it looks good. The idea of total commitment can be scary to some of us but it is what is necessary to see God’s call on our lives come to fruition. We can find strength in knowing that it is the Holy Spirit who will guide and help us in our weakness.
I close with this thought: Just as we are praying for people to commit to our ministry, there are many others praying the same request. Could you be the person God has called for that purpose? Could you be missing out on what God has for you?
If you feel this applies to you, begin praying and seeking the Lord for His help and guidance to fulfill His plan for your life.
